Dear Brian,

There is a lovely museum in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, located
diagonally across to the right from the front door of Salisbury Cathedral,
called
Salisbury Museum. I have visited twice while on embroidery tours, and
found they have a nice collection of what was labeled as Downton lace items.
Also, there is "32 Downton Lace Patterns", by Shelly Canning. This is a
self-published book of patterns. It has color pictures on the first page of:
4 1890's, 4 1920's, and 8 1990-2000 Downton bobbins.

This information should give you some searchable possibilities.

Brian. :)

PS I am also finding it hard to get pictures of decorated Downton
bobbins.
I think they are like hens teeth! It s a great pity because they have
some
really old dates inscribed on them.

You will know that I do not publish commercially.
