I wonder if Monica Ferris got the "butterfly" signature from seeing Chinese
bobbin lace, the majority of the mass produced stuff always having butterfly
motifs included.
If she could be invited and accept an invitation to Minnesota in 2012 and
did learn a bit about how to make lace, wouldn't it be great if she included
someone she met at the convention in one of her stories.
