I know too little of needle lace to know wether sand is a good or bad filling. But it does not hold the pins in place for bobbin lace. Now I know it is good to put brass pins in a *pin cushion* not your *lace pillow* filled with sand for the bottom of bird cages. The constant movements sands of the (green) corrosion. In Dutch pillow and cushion is a single word, so I must have mixed up these two.
