I too, am a Doris Southard student.

In late 2009, I was working in a needlework shop and on 2 separate occasions
a lace maker came in looking for supplies. I was intrigued.

I went to the Vancouver Lace Club and bought some used bobbins and a pillow.
With the busy season ahead I put of starting until January 2000. While
waiting, I ordered Doris Southard's book!

I showed my parents what it was that I wanted to learn and my dad recognized
the pillow and bobbins and said that my grandmother and aunt used to make
lace. I got even more intrigued. I have now learned that 3 cousin in laws
make lace. One I learned because I sent a picture and article into the
Danish magazine and she spotted me!

Because of my Danish heritage, I am learning Tønder lace and I enjoy making
the patterns from the Danish magazine, Kniplebrevet.

I still refer to my Doris Southard book, thank you Doris for taking the
initiative to write it. It's been very much appreciated!
