Dear Friends,

I was working on my Chantilly today and wondered what some of you might do when you find yourself in the situation I did.

This piece is very fine and sometimes the dots are virtually on top of each other. I was in the middle of a large open area of plain point ground when suddenly I realized I had an extra pair of bobbins. So what do I do??? They HAVE to go!

This has happened before and so what I do is this. I undo the 3 twists on 2 neighbouring pairs, tie the middle 2 of the 4 bobbins off using my favourite knot, throw them out, and then re-twist the remaining 2 bobbins 3 times. I realize that in courser work this may stick out like dogs' b**** but I find it virtually invisible with finer work (unless you know of course).

Just interested to know if any of you have a better way to solve this problem. Of course it does always leave you wondering if you are short a pair somewhere else - sometimes yes, and sometimes no.
