Dear Friends,
I'm progressing well with the Poppy pattern in the new Floral Bucks
book and thought I'd give a bit of an update which might help others
who intend to make it.
Firstly, I have now completed the large flower with those short lines
suggesting fiddly little bits of gimp, which I did put it in, and
will not be doing so again. I have decided that as was suggested by
one of us, that the petals are designed to be made in whole stitch
(I'm using half stitch) and that the lines represent veins which
would be achieved by adding extra twists. By making them gimps it
really bulked up the little circle in the centre of the flower and
was not worthwhile.
Also, as mentioned previously, I am using Tanne 50, which is only
just satisfactory. I studied the pricking hard to try and decide
between 50 and 80 and ended up choosing 50 probably because it might
mean less adding in and throwing out. The point ground part only just
handles it. I think I might regard this time as a trial run making
notes all the way and then do it "properly" another time.
This pattern is by no means easy, so I've printed out an extra copy
of the pricking on which I'm writing numbers of pair added and thrown
out etc. etc.
