Susan, and all The wedding photo of Marjorie Merriweather Post's daughter Adelaide Brevoort Close (1908-1998) was taken at the Hillwood estate in Washington, DC. although her wedding to Thomas "Tim" Welles Durant on January 19, 1927 took place in New York City. Adelaide wore a short dress with a long train, so the only place the veil was not supported was on her head, where it was fastened with orange blossoms at the sides of the head. The Hillwood exhibition features a short silent movie taken at the wedding, so we can really see how the veil was used. --- It is amazing how well the veil survived both that and the original fastening with a diamond brooch at Princess Stephanie's wedding. There are small tears, but nothing very serious. So far, we have not seen a close-up wedding photo that shows the veil at Princess Stephanie's wedding in 1881.
