I don't know what the contracts of other published authors are, but I've an already had of 3 books (not lace) published, the first in 1983 and the last around 2000 - before the ability to self-publish in it's present form existed. Hi Jean I have been in the same situation. unfortunately the publisher was bought out, mote than once and my books. When my books went out of print I could request a reprint and if this did not happen within 2 years I could give final notification and go elsewhere. Regarding the clause that you have to offer the next book, I started writing one that they refused. That nullified that clause. I then started self-publishing, first getting the books printed, 1000 book at a kilo each is a lot of weight on the floors and take up a lot of space. My others are not as big or heavy but are a big outlay. Hence I am trying Books on Demand. I'm nearly there with my first one and will let you knwo how I get on.
