I was reading the book "Point and Pillow Lace" by Mary Sharp (printed in 1905) and she mentions a painting by Quintin Matsys (1466-1529) of a girl with a lace pillow as proof that bobbin lace existed in Belgium as early as the end of the 15th c. I searched the internet and could not find this picture. Have any of you seen it?
