I don't know if they are still available, but I love my pillow stand made by Simon Toustous of Canada. Not only are the wood and workmanship beautiful, but you can adjust it to any height, not just predetermined increments, and also any angle. So if you are working around in different directions, you can be making incremental changes in the angle so that the bobbins are hanging optimally. Also, the variable height aspect makes it possible to change height during long lacemaking marathons. This is so important since at a certain point, a single vertebra will start to scream with pain, and then you can vary the height just enough to move the stress to the next vertebra, rather than having to desist from lacemaking. With careful attention to changing the height at regular intervals you can work for 10 hours or so, until every vertebra in your back is screaming with pain.
