Hi Brenda,

You bring up an interesting question.  I have been studying with Belgian 
teachers for quite a few years, and they are very fond of using reeled silk as 
a gimp with Egyptian cotton.  The silk has such a wonderful sheen and really 
emphasizes the gimp.  

Could you tell me more about what concerns you about combining silk and cotton? 
 I may need to rethink this....
