Dear Lorelei et al,
I got the first message. It is an amazing collection and a lovely article.
I spent some time last night looking at them. They are amazing. I am not a
needle lacer, and so I don't think I can fully appreciate the enormity of
the work, but still it is breathtaking. And it is in such good condition.
I wonder if the full provenance were known, if it would shed any light on
the Smithsonian's Bayeux tapestry in needlelace. Are all these chateaux in
the same general area, northwest France? Where I know where it is, that's
where it tends to be. Except Chantilly is northeast of Paris. How
wonderful the internet is, when we can see this lace in minute detail
without leaving the house or buying a book!! lrb

Subject: [lace] French Chateau Lace
Jeri Ames has just posted an article about some fantastic needle lace, with
many many wonderful photos on laceioli. The detail is good enough to
identify
the stitches used.

I'm posting this a 2nd time because I never got a copy of the first note. I
want to be sure nobody misses it.
