Further to the recent discussions on these I have a bobbin with a Stanhope
spangle, which I inherited from an elderly student. A lovely lady Ruth died in
1996 aged 86 and I recall her having showed me the special spangle which her
son had bought for her.

It's set in sterling silver, assay mark for Birmingham 1984, and the image is
of a page from a Derry & Tom's catalogue showing silk over blouses for 12/11
(12 shillings, 11pence) up to 15/11. The style of the blouses is very straight
and boxy, with knee length skirt - looks to me to be early 1930s.
