Isn't interesting how many lacemakers are left handed. I am also left handed and I sew, crochet and have tried tatting all left handed and have no problems with patterns. I also have to remember than left sides are right sides like Sue. I find that if I watch someone else do a stitch right handed I can transpose it to do it left handed. My only problem was when my daughter first picked up a pencil I could not visualise how she should hold it and so had to get my husband to put it in her hand and then it was no problem. My son is left handed so no problem with him. Daughter still cannot knit though even though 4 different right handed people tried to teach her.

I taught myself to tat after seeing an elderly man tatting at a craft show around 45 years ago. I got a shuttle, and a basic book (can't remember which one, cept it had an orange cover) and taught myself left handed (shuttle in left, thread in right). I've never had a problem with patterns etc, neither have I with crochet - hook in left, thread in right again. All I have to remember is that if I'm doing something like a jacket, then the right side is the left side. Not a problem as far as I'm concerned.
