Hi spiders, I am teaching my next door neighbour to make bobbin lace, she has had just a few lessons only so far and progressing quite well. I am starting her off working the christine springett spider next week for her grandson and am not sure if she wants to do the same but different colours for her slightly younger granddaughter. is there another simple pattern that the girls naturally gravitate to, maybe just a similar simple shape that can be done in cloth stitch and colour. I have to be away for two of our usually meet up afternoons after next week so hopefully something she can just work on her own. I would like to be able to offer her a choice if there is one she is capable of. So far we have worked on the usual cloth stitch starter piece in very thick thread then another one with finer thread and a variety of ways hs, cl st, and others with twists in, and now on a grid pattern, working half stitch ground and then whole stitch ground, back to hs stitch ground. I could set her up with the second piece and another set of bobbins so they are both up and working on the pillows before I leave her to it, so I want something just rhythmical cloth stitch really. Any ideas please?
