Management of Lace-related web sites is important. We do not want to
discourage people searching for Lace information.

On March 7, 2014, I announced the shut down of the Lace Fairy Web Site.
You were requested to please inform those who own other Lace web sites, so
they can take it off their Links until a new site is up and running under a
new name. (Or, maybe they can put something like "presently unavailable"
next to the name, and replace it when the new address is announced.)

In the past week, I came across two major Lace web sites that still had
the Lace Fairy Link. Clicking brought up something completely unrelated to
Lace.

Arachne members are uniquely positioned around the world to help with this.

Please review what your favorite Lace-related sites are showing as Links.
Please tell your friends, guilds, museums. The original announcement is
repeated below so you can forward it.
------------------------------
The announcement:

The Lace Fairy web site was the first of its kind - begun several computer
generations ago, before other lace makers, lace guilds, and museums began
to think of building their own sites, blogs, etc. The idea was conceived
in my library, at a Lacemakers of Maine meeting. We lamented the lack of
opportunities to see and study lace in the U.S. and other non-European parts
of the world. We thought it should be a bit like a museum. Lori
volunteered for the task. It took a tremendous amount of her talent, travel,
time
and financial investment to bring it to life as a free service for the lace
community.

Since last year, I have been working quietly to find someone to take over
the content of the Lace Fairy web site. I had been paying the fee to
protect the name, but that expires this month, and will not be renewed.

This has been extremely difficult to work out because of Lori's poor
health and lack of energy. She has not looked at Lace Fairy for several
years,
and some information has become obsolete. Other people have taken to
providing lace information on newer sites that are easy to navigate. Their
efforts are keeping us current, if we know where to look.

This week, I picked up a USB from Lori that contains the Lace Fairy
content. This is being forwarded by U.S. mail to a person who will take on
the
responsibility of keeping relevant information alive. It will be a while
before we announce the new address.

In the meantime, I must let you know that Lori's e-mail box is always
full. She is not reading her mail, and has lost interest in her hobbies. She
is naturally quite disappointed because of all the time and resources she
spent on hobbies, in which her family is not at all interested. I will try
to act as a communication bridge, but that is not always easy.

Please, if you or your lace guilds have put Lace Fairy on your web sites
as a place to visit, remove it. I will keep you informed when there are new
 developments.
