Thanks, Lorelei.

I am very excited about this panel called Following a New Thread Line.
There are four artists who have studios in Brooklyn, New York and New Jersey
who are participating. One of them is Manca Ahlin whose large lace
installation in the Stix restaurant at the Indigo Hotel was so widely
appreciated by
our internet lace community. One of them is Crystal Gregory who studied
with Lia Baumeister while on a study grant in Holland and was profiled in the
Bulletin of the International Organization of Lace, Summer, 2014. Kaelyn
Garcia teaches bobbin lace (to hipsters?) at the Textile Arts Center in
Brooklyn. J. Carpenter has several lace works to her credit, including some
fascinating ones based on architecture. I don't know the other participant,
Susie Silbert, personally, but she is a curator in the New York art scene.

I am a bit of an odd ball in this group, I think. But, I suppose my
purpose is to provide historical perspective.

I think it will be a lot of fun to present bobbin lacemaking as a fiber
art technique to the art community. I have to admit to a bit of trepidation
in that I am not that comfortable in front of groups. Also, what am I going
to wear?
