In case anyone else is interested... I heard from a very distinguished lace teacher and she says the DMC Machine Embroidery thread is superior to the Madiera that I have, and well worth the search, but it is practically impossible for her to obtain in England. I was sort of hoping that it would turn out it wasn't worth the search, but she says that it is her favorite for hinjosa and Idrija lace.
