I always felt that any lace collar worn at a beheading would be ruined by
the blood! (if not the axe!) this is why I was rather suspicious about this
collar being worn by Charles 1, at his execution.

It seems odd that the first reference in the Catalogue was a glove, and then
it suddenly became a collar!

Whatever - It is very old and should be preserved, and treated well! The
lacemakers of days gone by were amazing, really, as they did not have books,
etc to help them, - and few of them could read, anyway, - and they just
worked it out for themselves.
We are so lucky, in this day and age, that we have lots of books, and now
the Internet, so plenty of help with difficult bits!

Regards from Liz in Melbourne, Oz.
