I have been rereading 75 x Lace by Patricia Wardle, as I am planning a
vacation to the Netherlands and hoping to visit the Rijksmuseum. I keep
noticing in the footnotes that there are pieces of lace she claims are on
loan to the Centraal Museum in Utrecht. The book was published in about the
year 2000, so I don't know if the lace that is said to have been on loan to
the museum in Utrecht would still be there, on display, or in storage. I am
unable to determine from the website of the museum whether they would have
any lace.
Also, I had been under the impression that the Boymans-van Beunigen museum
in Rotterdam has some lace, based on a book called Kant, published in 1978,
and unfortunately, entirely in Dutch. But now that I am looking at the
book, it appears that this was a special exhibition, so I am unsure whether
there is any lace there. Any help would be appreciated.
We will also be driving around the Netherlands, hitting Haarlem, Delft, the
Hague, etc. so any suggestions about other places worth visiting from a
lace standpoint would be appreciated.
In fact, I have not contacted the Rijksmuseum yet, so information about
that museum would also be of interest. The Wardle book, 75 x Lace is my
only reference for now. The museum website has some lace on it, but the
majority of the lace does not appear to have photography with it.
Many thanks,
Devon
