Thank you Jane!  I can see now that this will require magic threads as I could 
barely make my sewing to begin with.  Of course, this is an ancient UFO so 
there's no chance of switching to larger pins in the areas where the sewings 
are involved.  That seems like part of the solution for a future project where 
this sort of coiling tape is involved.  Yes, I've been sewing into the loop 
rather than the top and/or bottom bars.  Rats, another messed up piece of lace!
