Hello All! In over my head again & hope someone will point me in the right
direction! I'm working a narrow strip of half stitch lace that turned back
upon itself at a pivot pin. So now I'm working next to the completed half
stitch strip where the "inside" pin is reused as a sewing. Except that the now
I need to make a backstitch to level out the lace. The general instructions
for a backstitch call for passing the workers behind the pin & placing them to
the right of the waiting edge pair, then make the edge stitch before continuing
back to the other side. It doesn't seem like this would hold the stitch in
place because it doesn't have a pin or a sewing to connect it. What am I
missing here? The strip is quite narrow & the half stitch area is densely
packed, but is that enough to maintain the correct position of the stitch? I
looked in Practical Skills but didn't find an answer. Can someone please lend
a hand? Many thanks. Sincerely, Susan Hottle USA
