Susan, This thread is designed for machine embroidery. It is 40 weight rayon. There are numerous options for substitution. If you have a Joann's store nearby, they should have 40weight rayon thread available. If you do not have a Joann's do a search for sewing machine dealers. Most are also selling embroidery machines and threads.
