Greetings friends, I'm generally a lurker on this list, but found a small treasure I think you'd enjoy. As a bobbin lace worker, I also collect old images of bobbin laceworkers.
I've found an archive of about a hundred old photos (and a few paintings and sculptures as well) of lacemakers. Primarily bobbin lace, although there are a few images of tambour-hook laceworkers as well. Koninklijk Instituut voor het Kunstpatrimonium (Royal Institute for the Study and Conservation of Belgium's Artistic Heritage) http://www.kikirpa.be/www2/WWWOPAC/en/object.html Under heading "Iconographical data", select "Person role" from the drop-down list and enter "dentelliere" ("lacemaker", in French) in the field next to it. 103 photos or images of assorted works of art depicting laceworkers. Lots of B&W images of little old ladies from Brugge or Brussels, sitting on the street, making lace -- like this one. Dead charming. http://www.kikirpa.be/www2/cgi-bin/wwwopac.exe?DATABASE=obj2&OPAC_URL=&%250=10147951 I know of a few other similar sites if anyone is interested.
