They were also twisted into waistbands and undies and apron's via waist band or 
pocket.  You can get sheaths in the US at www.schoolhousepress.com, which is 
owned by Meg Swanson, daughter of Elizabeth Zimmerman.  I have seen them one 
other place, and I am thinking it was Lacis, but can't be held fully acountable 
for that.

There has been a recent upsurge of Shetlanders doing KAL's and related on many 
of the lace knitting and other knitting lists, and others who travel to witness 
this kind of thing and learn all of the techniques and have shared their 
stories.

They claim to their amazement that English/throwers/right handed, are faster 
than Continental/pickers/lefthanded yarn holders, and it is often thought to be 
the opposite.
