Dear Spiders, I have just connected two stray bits of information. American Morning Glory = British Convulvus. After all this time looking at Honiton patterns with Convulvus in them and thinking they looked terribly familiar, I finally know what they are.
Being the child of Puerto Rican parents, we had to navigate some interesting cultural issues. I didn't know I had a Grandma, like other kids, because I didn't know what a Grandma was. "I" had an Abuelita (Spanish for Grandma) and she was OK, whoever she was. I remember this exchange with my mom. "Mom, who is Abuelita?", as I wrote a thank you for the delightful gift of cash for my birthday "She is your father's mother" "OK" (Still didn't know she was my grandma, and by the time I did, she was Abuelita and that was that.) So Newbies and Lurkers, take note. Even if you don't know the "proper" term for something you want to know about, or figure out, just call it like you see it and your question, or observation, or comment will probably shed light for a lot of other Spiders, too.
