Thanks to each and every one of you! I now have a goodly collection of titles and, when we get to Wales, will no doubt spend time looking for one of the books mentioned. I did purchase the Zele book (funnily enough, that is one of the laces mentioned in the book by Catherine) so will have that ready for starting, and am thankful that, for the smaller samples, I won't need a pillow! I think Dearly Beloved would begin to cavil a bit at a large lace pillow, as well as the bobbin lace gear, being accompanied by a needlelace pillow as well as all its impedimenta, taking up room in the car! But - I have now finished the long length of the garter for my niece's wedding in November - it just has about a million ends to sew in, as well as the elastic and ribbon to be inserted, but I am very pleased indeed with how it looks at the moment! It is the easiest pattern I could find - the one in the Elizabeth Wade book, very much reduced, with just torchon ground and fans, but it will, I am sure, look good when it is gathered, and I am also sure that Helen will be pleased. But - I won't have to take that with me on holiday, so no stress from *that* deadline.
