Indeed, but if people have problems reading the basic rules that may
include "only 1 entry per class" and still enter 2 items in the same
class (even if they are different 'techniques', eg a beds and bucks
piece) then they're not going to read a more specific instruction
regarding mounting unless it is a part of the class title or
category/section heading.

I personally don't have a problem with machine stitched mounting on a
fair entry (unless the premium booklet specifically excludes it, which
it doesn't here in Colorado).  As long as the mounting is neat
appropriate for the apparent intended use, I don't mind, and I wouldn't
go out of my way to dock points for it.  Now, if they machine stitched
the lace to the fabric and left their long ends without trimming them, I
would deduct a point or 2 for that, since the person obviously hadn't
taken the care to check the finishing and final presentation of their
work.
