Date: Mon, 09 Feb 2009...I took a lace knitting class with
Diane Willet at an IOLI Convention. With diabetic neuropathy bothering
my hands...Diane...suggested wooden needles. I find them warm and
gentle...Betty Ann Rice in Roanoke, Virginia USA
You could also consider Bryspun, with are a milk casein type. They are kind
of flexible and have concave tips so the stitches tend to hold a bit rather
than slip off. Ideal for arthritis or neuropathy patients (I have neuropathy
also from a car accident and couldn't even hold a check for more than 1 second).
I generally do not care for casein or plastic types of ndls, but these can be a
delight to knit with (followed the advice of my LYSO) and with cables the
transition is smooth and the cables flexible. The tips aren't as pointy as
Addi Lace Turbo's or KnitPicks, but as pointy as the wooden ones you use. You
can slso refinish the points, and use a nail buffer to get a very fine finish,
or micron papers (within the sand paper aisle)
