I too love Elizabeths ..long time to get that effect, and feel that the "how
much to you charge for that stuff"
might want an answer telling him at his hourly rate (a guess would do) and
multiply the hours needed to work it.
I normally just say that he couldn't afford it!!!!!

some really stupid questions... but they're usually asked of us by the
"uninitiated" (not people learning to make lace, but observers who
haven't a clue...), and are sometimes too funny not to share. We've
shared a few, from time to time, as well as the clever responses ("It
took a long time to get that effect." gets my vote as one of the best
ever in response to the "know it all"!!).
While demonstrating a piece of Toender lace edging, a man walked up and
asked me, "How much do you charge for that stuff?" I replied that I
didn't sell it, that most people would not want to pay what it would
cost to have it made by hand. His reply, "How many yards can you make
in an hour?"
