"Orenburg lace knitting... 'Olga's Indiski (indian) Shawl' from Piecework May-June 2009...pick up the
slipped edge of the outer border to knit the inner border...'Pick up 189 slipped-edge stitches along the straight edge of the border from the same direction (either from the back or front) by placing needle through loops. Work Border Section 2 as charted ....'Jane" *** I don't have that issue, but it seems to me that you place them (slipped sts.) on the left needle and then knit from them? It may be easier to think of it as picking up along a neckline or front band of a sweater, excepting you are doing it within each "hole" the slipped stitch creates (or the slipped stitch itself). It is up to you whether placing them on the left needle eases the knitting or not. (On a time crunch so can't double check my Orenburg books.) Did you know that there was errata for that pattern? Assumably, you do but just in case, here is the link: http://www.interweave.com/needle/piecework_magazine/corrections.asp Best, Susan Reishus - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected].
