Oxy clean or Biz will remove organic stains of any age. Here's how I've
successfully done this:
Soak the item, laid flat, in a very clean glass jar or stainless steel bowl,
pan, or tray (no plastic, aluminum, or other reactive surface)in distilled
water (it's cheap, and you use it in your iron, yes?) Change the water once
or twice a day, keep all at room temperature. Repeat for three days. If this
does not remove the problem spot to your liking, dissolve 3T Oxy Clean in 4
c. boiling water, stir to dissolve and let cool to room temperature. Add
1/2 cup of this solution to one gallon of distilled water, and continue to
soak the item, changing the solution once or twice a day. Rinse, using
distilled water. Increase the Oxy Clean to 1/2 c. and make a new solution if
the spot has not lifted after 3 days. If the blood, mildew, or other organic
stain does not lift after this treatment, then the stain is not organic or
has bonded permanently to the fiber.
If the item is silk, NONE of the above applies. Silk may be vacuumed, but
that's a whole other topic.
Never let the lace bear its own weight while wet.
Use ONLY distilled water.
