Hi Arachnids,

I have couple of wooden bobbins someone made for me with some beautiful hand-carved little figures on the top. They are lovely to look at, but an absolute devil to work with as the thread catches on the bits that stick out. with these metallic figures on the top I would think that would be even worse. At least my wood bobbin sculptures are somewhat rounded. So Id think for show rather than use. Maybe as a price for a competition? Or a very special commemorative?

Happy lacemaking,

http://encajerasbolilleras.blogspot.ca/ Someone posted this link several
months ago and I often open it to look at the lace being made in Spain. This
morning I was intrigued by the bobbins in the third section, "Boixets". (By
the time you read this and open the blog they may have been pushed further
down by new postings.) The bobbins look beautiful and I am intrigued by the
decorations on the top. Has anyone ever used bobbins embellished on the top?
Did it interfere with the movement of the thread? I think it would take a
while to get accustomed to.
