Could 8th British Navy be a truncation of the full squadron or regiment? Maybe there wasn't enough room to pull the full thing on the bobbin, along with the name and date.
I have a little inexpensive LED on a flexible 'wire' that can be bent around, that gives a little extra light - not much, but it uses just a very small battery I think (like a cell/hearing aid type). I've used it a couple of times - it's not brilliant, but it marginally better than nothing. I have put some LED light bulbs in my bathroom replacing the high wattage incandescent bulbs that were there, and they are pretty good. Our local energy company in Seattle was doing an exchange last year of CF's and LED's (up to a total of 15 bulbs, can mix and match) for incandescents, and so I got a mix of both. The LEDs have a brighter/whiter light and are instant on, rather than the CFs that take a few moments to come to full brightness - I have some CF's floods in my kitchen and they take a couple of minutes to come to full brightness - which is OK first thing in the morning at 5.30 when I'm just waking up :-) Seems like there was a noticeable drop in the bill, but there were probably other factors at play. I think the savings are more long term with the LEDs and CFs. Helen, Duvall, WA - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected].
