I visited this truly lovely exhibition on Monday and spent so long there that
I had to cut short my V & A visit.

I loved that it was all about the costume rather than the art or history, and
the real clothes and lace were displayed so that you could look really closely
at construction and stitching.

The multimedia guide was worthwhile - I often find them a bit tedious and
distracting. There was even a clip of how bobbin lace was done although the
editing was rather odd - spending some time on the making of a pricking, but
then moving to the pattern being worked but missing out how the piece was
actually set up.

Do visit - anyone in the UK if visiting London.

..................... and about the accompanying book/catalogue that Jeri has
written such a good review of - a must have for me.

I really wanted to buy it there and then but it is very heavy for anyone with
an airline baggage allowance.

Others have told that it is available from Amazon and Book Depository with no
postage charge.
