The W3 is working on a Geolocation API Specification (http://dev.w3.org/geo/api/spec-source.html) that Firefox 3.1 is going to support (for some definition of support) and which Firefox 3.0 users can take advantage of using Geode (http://labs.mozilla.com/2008/10/introducing-geode/). It looks like Fire Eagle can use the geolocation API to update your location; assuming it does see steady growth and adoption it seems like only a matter of time before someone inverts that relationship (creating a Fire Eagle provider for the geolocation API).
