It's possible that a silent drop of email that comes to the filter

Well, there's not much "form" to it, though. 13 alphanum chars, up or down-case.

I think I'd be worried about not giving feedback to the user, if they've sent to the wrong address.

So, maybe: if the form is incorrect, and the sender is not a registered user, then drop it.

Can you add this as a ticket in Trac, please?
The current answer about non member causes an email to
return to the sender, which for spam will generally return to the
postmaster. It's not much better than auto response, and we all know
that generates a lot of junk.
It /is/ an auto-response! It's an email-processing script, after all.

If you don't want to see it, couldn't you just filter responses from the script in your postmaster inbox?
If this continues, we'll have to turn off the email iusage,
Who's "we"? I didn't realize you had a Laconica instance running.
which I
suppose is no big deal, but I wanted to make the problem known and
maybe start a discussion among developers of which I'm not.
So, I'm not entirely sure that we can single-handedly solve this problem. Everybody gets random-guess spam email.
