yes, lamdaemon could definitely be improved. Creating homedirs after the
user was created is another point. Checking the existence of an existing
user's homedir would be another one.

Unfortunately, lamdaemon has no high priority in LAM because there are
alternatives like pam_mkhomedir. But there is always the option to
sponsor developments if you need a fast solution.
