this happens if your users are not built on top of the structural object
class "inetOrgPerson". You may have used "account" for those users.
To edit your old users you can edit the LAM server profile, edit modules
- -> User and replace the inetOrgPerson mudule by account.

Please note that the structural object class cannot be changed with LAM
(if LDAP ever allows this change).
