Hello,

I am sorry if this has been brought up before, I don't see a way to
search the archives on Sourceforge. I did search on Google, though, but
nothing came up.

I've discovered LanguageTool just recently, and I think it is just
awesome! I've already integrated it into our (commercial) project, which
took only a couple hours due to good documetation and a nice design. And
that is including tweaking which rules I need activated.

On to my question: I did read the license related documentation, in
particular

http://www.languagetool.org/download/README.txt

It would appear that I could use LanguageTool under LPGL for checking
English and German. However, looking into the JAR file
"language-de-2.2.jar" which I downloaded from the linked Maven page, it
seems that the dictionary itself is GPL!

Why is this mentioned nowhere in the top-level documentation, given that
support for German seems to be particularily mature? Is it because the
dictionary does not affect binary code because it is not "linked" in the
classical sense of the GPL?

If including this JAR would indeed affect our application, is there an
alternative Hunspell dictionary for German that could be used? No
version of our software with LanguageTool integration has yet been
released publically, but we would not want to be forced to release under
GPL.

Thank you very much and best regards,
-Stephan
