Thanks Garrett! The particular situation I'm dealing with is providing an audible prompt to let the user know that the language and keyboard layout selection prompts of the live CD are up. This happens very early in the boot process of the live CD. Do you know if the system has the appropriate audio drivers and binaries available at the time that these prompts are issued (and what the path to the binary would be)? If so, this could actually be a graceful solution to the problem. Will
