Neither of those are required to vote in OpenSolaris community matters,
but being recognized by the community as someone who has contributed
is required (i.e. once Jeff & Simon are approved here, they get to vote
on future nominations in the laptop community).

Showing support for a nominated person, even if you can't formally vote,
is of course, also allowed, so there's nothing wrong with your +1, it
just doesn't count towards the minimum required +1 votes to approve their
status grant.
