I've got both Solaris 10 Update 3 (patched as of Feb22) and snv_57 running on separate slices on a Lenovo T43p (Pentium M 770, ATI FireGL video, 2 GB RAM, Solaris installed on 2nd hard disk). I'm having some issues with removable disk stuff.
On Solaris 10 U3: A SanDisk CF card in a Hagiwara sys-com ExpressCard to CF adapter mounts OK and a file manager window opens automatically. A Lacie 60 GB USB/2 disk mounts and works fine after it was reformatted by a MacBook - it worked OK with Windows and a Mac before formatting but not with Solaris (FAT type filesystem). On snv_57: The CF card in the Hagiwara sys-com adapter does not mount correctly - a file manager window never shows up and there are no entries in /media or /rmdisk. The same CF card in a SanDisk CF to PCMCIA adapter does not work correctly - no entries in /media or /rmdisk and no file manager window. The device is recognized to some extent as drivers are apparently loaded (prtconf -D) The Lacie 60 GB USB/2 disk mounts and works OK. A firewire Cardbus card (TI chipset with IBM brand and part number 19K5680) is recognized and works fine when a Plextor DVD-R/RW 716UF drive is attached. I'm able to burn a DVD with Plextor using the firewire card at 8X. However, I cannot eject the burned DVD. I was hoping this firewire problem with ejecting optical media would have been fixed by now ... The same Plextor drive is not correctly recognized when attached via a notebook USB/2 port and cdrecord will not burn the same iso file to DVD-R media (Apple 8X which worked with a firewire connection). I'm able also to burn the same iso file using an iMac with the same media. The Plextor reads DVD-R burned media fine when connected via USB/2 as that is what I use to install Solaris/snv as I'm using a second HD in place of the Thinkpad DVD drive. Any hints on how to resolve these issues? Thanks, Stuart This message posted from opensolaris.org
