I doubt it is a Lenovo problem, as I have read people with HP, Dell, Acer etc have had similar problems with GRUB.
I have the newest BIOS for my model. It does not resovle the problem. Can it be that GRUB v0.98 (I think) is still used and not GRUB v2? Can you be a bit more clear on specifying the IDE type of the BIOS? The BIOS does support USB boot, but that will not sovle my problem of not being able to use my DVD-RW drive, as I cannot carry a portable DVD drive with me everywhere.
