The pcwl driver on opensolaris doesn't support prism2.5 pci card, while 
the one integrated into snv_60 does support it.
If internally running 'frkit' older version, the *pciwl* driver in it 
supports the prism2.5

Sure. the 'magic' may have an effect on whether the RF switch is on or off.
