The problem I had was ndiscvt would not load on a 64-bit kernel. Casper suggested that it's an issue with SSE instructions which are not supported in Solaris (I assume yet). If you modload ndis into a 64-bit running kernel, it craps out with thousands of Illegal operation errors. So, far...I've gotten really sick of this laptop. It: a) has a very loud fan. [ Whoever says that the fan is not loud really doesn't sit next to a quiet machine.] I can hear the fan (Both in Windows, Solaris and Linux) sitting in another room. In contrast, my Dell Latitude D600, Toshiba Satellite D60 are dead quiet. b) Has a lot of non-OSS/*nix friendly components. This includes the broken ACPI (and the fun time getting it work in Linux), the unfriendly WiFi, the lack of ATI binary drivers for Solaris, the broken touchpad (happens in 01/06 Solaris 10 FCS release). c) Suspend-Resume on non-Microsoft OS's. - No other OS has worked with suspend/resume. It's an okay spec'd machine but it's a very bad choice as a laptop running anything but Windows "just yet". It seems, more and more, an overpriced toy. I think a Macbook Pro would perhaps offer better value for the money. And unlike many of the Sun developers, I had to pay to buy this machine. :) My two cents.
