Perhaps we should lock the properties files so they can't be checked in
- I've shot myself (and everyone else) in the foot several times by
accidentally checking in lps.properties.

Maybe we could come up with a way of setting these prefs in the
environment instead of having to edit the file?
I'd be in favor of that -- it would a different way to turn the indexing
off, for example.
We could also restrict SVN permissions on lps.properties and
build.properties, at least for the major development branches. Might
save people from themselves...
