Hi Geoff,

I'm the doc guy on the OpenLaszlo project in the employ of Laszlo Systems. So, I try to keep up with what's in each release -- that's what they pay me for! But as a general policy I only comment in the most general terms about what's coming when. I am not a spokesperson for either Laszlo Systems or the OpenLaszlo project, so I don't like to discuss future schedules.

Jim Grandy, the OpenLaszlo project lead, may offer an opinion about where SOAP fits into the schedule. I'll confess that I've lost track of where SOAP fits into our plans for upcoming work.

However, we prefer that questions be addressed to the list, not to individuals on the list. Although there is a schedule and a plan (of which Jim is in charge; please see the OpenLaszlo wiki), OpenLaszlo is an open source project, and it's up to the community to determine when things will get done. What I mean by that is, Laszlo Systems may or may not assign anybody to make SOAP work in SOLO mode, but if they don't, there is always the possibility that somebody else in the community will do the job. We welcome contributions from volunteers.

I don't mean to be rude or off-putting. The plans for upcoming releases are on the OpenLaszlo wiki, but those plans are not always kept up to date, so some amount of uncertainly about OpenLaszlo plans is understandable. But in the larger sense, the best way to ensure that a feature you want makes it into the platform is to work with other members of this list to make it happen.

Thanks,

jrs

Sounds like you might be the right person to ask a couple
of questions on RPC - particularly SOAP.

Any chance the SOAP will also be available to SOLO any
time soon?
