I'm a VERY new user of OpenLaszlo, and a very enthusiastic one... but I've hit
problems relating documentation to reality. I'm using Firefox 3.5 under Mac OS
10.6; I've tried installing by both Mac and Unix routes.

1. First item in the Deployer's Guide: "When you installed Laszlo, it placed
an icon on your desktop: LPS Start Tomcat.term". It didn't. Tomcat started
anyway, I think : I get "Welcome to OpenLaszlo 4.9.0" etc..

2. There's conflicting advice around about how to set JAVA_HOME. I've ended up
using a belt and braces, setting /usr/libexec/java_home (which is just a
symlink) both via login script and by editing all three .command scripts. That
stopped the complaints, but is it wise?

3. Developers' Guide 1.4 tells me "In order to be compiled by the OpenLaszlo
Server, files must be placed in subdirectories of the following path:
Macintosh HD:/Applications/Laszlo Presentation Server
4.9.0/jakarta-tomcat-5.0.24/webapps/lps-4.9.0:".
This filepath doesn't exist. After a lot of frustration (and no help from
documentation) I realised that
Macintosh HD:/Applications/OpenLaszlo Server 4.9.0/Server/lps-4.9.0/my-apps
is already provided. Am I still on track?

4. I've now compiled an application and it seems to work, but where are the
compiled js/html executables?

I think issues 1-3 are either just misunderstandings or rough edges in the
documentation, but to a newbie with little Unix experience they're discouraging
ones.

Thanks....
