latex2html: verbatim fixed ?

Hello all,

I am having problems using the verbatim env., I tried using the verbatim.sty package 
with \verbatiminput{somefile}, but it does not get translated.  The archive mentions 
this problem with older Perl's, but I am using 5.003.

btw, are there better/alternate ways to include program listings preserving fixed 
spacing  and leading blanks ?

Can someone help ?
